  2. 48 years old and his daddy is still up I’m his business? I would tell that old shitter to sod off already.
P.s he’s cute! (the young dude, not the dad)

      1. That was my thought too- if his dad is really conservative he could just be smiling and nodding so as to avoid an argument, not actually in agreement. Even if he does lean slightly conservative- he might not be as hard line as his dad is. I don’t know if the kind of person this ad would attract would be who he’d want his son to be with anyway… free flights to meet a guy who owns his own house and successful business?

  4. Ykno, large swaths of the world still adhere to the arranged marriage custom, including conservative Jews. And this isn’t an arrange marriage, it’s the father looking for viable candidates without going through a yenta. This is’t a rude advertisemet, it’s clear, respectful, and not for sex. Also the terms are safe and he’s offering to pay for traveling. He’s pretending to be the son, but from his perspective, where parents help pick the dating prospects, it should be understood that a parent would be involved.

Just bc it’s not your culture, don’t act like parents being involved in an adult child’s life is automatically icky and weird. Millions of people in the world do allow their parents to be involved in their marriage choices, and they do have free choice, and they are happy in that marriage.
