Starting to “like” someone. Trying to find your place in the social hierarchy. YOUR RAPIDLY CHANGING BODY. Elementary school was hard enough without these 22 kicks in the pants.
1. Getting blamed for things you didn’t do.
2. Having your life ruined before it even got started.
3. Smug-ass teachers.
4. Don’t worry, you won’t cut yourself. You also won’t cut anything else.
5. This extremely noisy pencil grinder.
6. The absolute worst sound in the world.
7. The soap that didn’t so much clean your hands as it removed the layer of skin the dirt was on.
8. Being made to stack chairs that would randomly shock you.
9. Passing a note in class and having it intercepted then read aloud by the teacher.
10. Having to share a computer with that kid you hated because there weren’t enough for everyone.
11. Losing the cap on this and rendering it useless.
12. Getting that ball with a hole in it at recess.
13. “I’ll just wait for you all to be quiet.”
14. When your milk would open like this.
15. Pencil boxes designed to explode on impact.
16. A fun game until one comes back down with little pieces of ceiling in your eyes.
