Creepy kids aren’t a horror movie cliche for no reason — it’s based on the fact that real world kids are pretty damn good at being creepy. How can something under four feet tall with a soft skull and limited motor skills be so compellingly creepy? Why don’t we just laugh at creepy kids and move on? My theory is that we don’t see them as full people until they’ve grown up and taken on a bunch of debt for college and had the life sucked out of them. So little kids are like half-people. Another way to look at it is this: children are the future, and the future is scary.
