Christmas is an important time for lots of families, but sometimes jobs can keep people from being able to spend the holidays with the people they love (unless they also love their co-workers).
But in the case of Pierce Vaughan, a Delta Airlines flight attendant, being at work didn’t absolutely necessarily mean she couldn’t be with her family at the same time. So, in order to spend time with her on Christmas, her father, Hal Vaughan, booked six flights that would take him all over the United States.
One of the passengers on a flight from Fort Myers to Detroit, Mike Levy, sat next to Hal and wrote about it on Facebook.
Levy’s post read,
“I had the pleasure of sitting next to Hal on my flight back home. His daughter Pierce was our flight attendant who had to work over Christmas. Hal decided he would spend the holiday with her. So, he is flying on each of her flights today and tomorrow around the country to spend time with his daughter for Christmas. What a fantastic father! Wish you both a very Merry Christmas!”
Levy’s post ended up going viral, getting shared more than 34,000 times as of this writing. And then Pierce posted it on her Facebook page, adding,
“Look ma we made it Kimberly Hal Vaughan. Dad’s first trip using his benefits was a success. A special thanks to all of the patient, wonderful gate agents around the country and my perfect crew. He made it on every flight and even got first class RSW-DTW (Christmas miracle.)”
She threw in a special mention to passenger Mike Levy, also writing, “Shoutout to Mike Levy for being a great first class passenger & helping us to understand how cool this actually is!”
And, of course, people on the internet were totally moved by the story.
Keep in mind, a lot of people dread having to travel on or around the holidays, so it’s especially sweet that her dad did so much to be with her.
