I’m gonna tell my kids about this meme…is what you might say when piling on to the latest meme sweeping across the eyeballs of the nation. The “I’m gonna tell my kids” meme began with a tweet from @Wake_n_Bacon trolling Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for his brownface scandal(s). It then spread to people saying they’d tell their kids that other politicians, artists, and notable people were someone else. It’s essentially a pledge to intentionally misinform the next generation about reality for lulz. And it’s suddenly everywhere. Who doesn’t like trolling their hypothetical offspring? Look this won’t matter next week but right now it matters very much.
