I don’t use WhatsApp but I have texted a wrong number before but it usually never goes past the initial response. I usually reach out, they tell me I have the wrong number, and I apologize.
I’ve also received calls and messages from people looking for someone else. One time, I got a text from a number I didn’t know. They said, “Happy birthday cuz! Let’s meet for a drink tomorrow!” I told them I was not their cousin but I told them to let me know where they ended up and I would buy a round of drinks. Well, they actually did and I met up with them.
I didn’t keep in touch with them but I’ve always wondered how things would go if I pretended I was their actual cousin but what if they would’ve been pissed? I would want them to have a good sense of humor like this family who thought they added their dad to a WhatsApp group chat but it was the wrong Peter.
