A particularly difficult Chihuahua looking for his forever home has won over the Internet after his adoption post by his foster mom went viral.
Tyfanee Fortuna wrote a long, now-viral Facebook post for Prancer, who she is fostering with the Second Chance Pet Adoption League in New Jersey.
She writes, “Ok, I’ve tried. I’ve tried for the last several months to post this dog for adoption and make him sound…palatable. The problem is, he’s just not. There’s not a very big market for neurotic, man hating, animal hating, children hating dogs that look like gremlins.”
She wrote that Prancer is the Chihuahua meme — “50% hate and 50% tremble.”
“Every day we live in the grips of the demonic Chihuahua hellscape he has created in our home,” Fortuna wrote.
“Prancer came to me obese, wearing a cashmere sweater, with a bacon egg n cheese stuffed in his crate with him.” His former owner “treated him like a human and never socialized him.”
He was initially very scared and very quiet in his new foster home, but quickly revealed his true colors.
“I was excited to see him come out of his shell and become a real dog. I am convinced at this point he is not a real dog, but more like a vessel for a traumatized Victorian child that now haunts our home.”
Fortuna acknowledges a few good qualities of Prancer.
He is “loyal beyond belief,” has a few commands, is potty-trained, and loves his person… as long as that person is female. “If you have a husband don’t bother applying, unless you hate him.”
Fortuna asked that anyone who has “always wanted your own haunted Victorian child in the body of a small dog that hates men and children” gets in touch with the rescue organization.
The write-up seems to be working for Prancer.
“We are getting a lot of inquires from all over the country but focused on finding him the exact right situation to set him up for success,” Stephanie, a Second Chance Pet Adoption League representative, told HuffPost.
Only homes within a few hours of New Jersey are permitted. They want the “adopter to be able to meet him in person, maybe a couple of times to bond with him and make sure we are able to help support his adjustment.”
Stephanie confirmed Fortuna’s post’s warnings. “One on one with his chosen ladies he’s an amazing companion, in the wrong situation he’s a demon,” she told HuffPost.
The rescue also reminded people that though Prancer is the dog getting tons of attention, they have lots of other small, quirky pups for adoption.

Fortuna has actually made viral news with her foster pups before — back in 2017. Rumpelstilskin, who was another chihuahua, was put into her care after his owner passed away.
“Bonus info: his owner was dead for a considerable time before anyone noticed and he did eat his human to stay alive. +1 for being a survivalist pupper,” Fortuna wrote.
