Meet Mary LaMorte, aka Nanny. Thanks to her grandson, she’s now TikTok famous for having gone viral for having a ranking board on her wall “ranking” her 10 grandkids.
Dan’s Grandma Mary Keeps A “Ranking” Of Her 10 Grandkids
The board was a gag gift from a few of her grandkids back in 2015. The kids personalized the gift by adding 10 magnetic photos of them all.
Her 27-year-old grandson Dan explained how the board works in the now-viral TikTok. In the video, he proudly reveals he’s ranked 4th.
Grandma Mary would “promote” and “demote” her grandkids based on their behavior and actions. So when Dan decided to get tattoos he became worried about his ranking.
Unfortunately for Dan, Grandma Mary isn’t a big fan of tattoos. Even though the tattoos are cool, when she learned about the new ink, Dan’s ranking shot down to 10th place immediately.
Mary further explains how the rankings work. Things like having kids, visiting her, or keeping in touch help with being promoted.
“My grandson just had a new baby, so he goes to the top because it’s a very good, happy moment,” she said. “And I’m not going to even get into demotions. Tattoos? That’ll do it every time.”
Dan also shares that two of his cousin hold the coveted first and second rankings. One cousin is a veterinarian and the other is a dentist.
“It’s definitely a way to keep everyone together, and it gets us all talking. I was very lucky with four funny grandparents who are all still alive. I always grew up with someone telling jokes—and Nanny would always tell you never to take yourself too seriously.”
They botthe agreed she will not be adding any great-grandkids into the race.
“We don’t put them on the board because we’re scared they [might] get ranked above us,” Dan laughed. “They’re younger and cuter, and they haven’t messed up as much. We’ve always been a very jokey, roasty family.”

The video was a hit with TikTokers. Some were shocked that she’d do this while others saw the humor in the situation.
