However, one television news channel made a major blunder when it included Donner Lake, California on its list of towns with Christmas spirit. The problem is that Donner Lake is named after the Donner Party, a group of American pioneers who were stranded in the Sierra Nevadas during the winter and ended up resorting to cannibalism to survive.
