The New ‘Best Cuisine In The World’ Ranking Has Food Twitter Outraged

The 2022 TasteAtlas awards for the top 50 best cuisines from around the world have caused confusion among the Twitterverse due to their rankings. The global food encyclopedia compiled the list based on audience votes for various ingredients, dishes, and drinks.

Despite the presence of well-known countries in the top spots, there was disagreement with the rankings. Italy, Greece, and Spain occupied the top three spots, followed by Japan, India, Mexico, and Turkey in the top ten.

The United States was a surprising addition to the top ten, achieving an overall score of 4.51. They outranked Peru (10), China (11), Brazil (12), Indonesia (16), and Thailand (30).

TasteAtlas’s announcement tweet about the list received nearly 50 million views, 3,500 retweets, 46.4K quote tweets, and 20.4K likes.

However, the results were met with criticism from social media users, with one person objecting to the inclusion of the United States, writing, “The fact that the United States is #8 means this poll is inherently flawed and not to be taken seriously,” along with a photo of a “Snickers Salad.”
