Hooking up with line cooks you shouldn’t, becoming effectively nocturnal, developing a bad chain-smoking habit, and occasionally snacking off customers’ plates — some of the great joys of being a server!
As someone who waited tables throughout college (and after because it honestly pays better than most entry-level positions), I can’t help but reminisce about the whirlwind of bad tippers, forgetting to put orders into the POS, and the occasional “Oh, we didn’t like it, but we ate it all, can your manager comp it?” customers.
If you live the server life or ever donned the apron, let’s take a moment to collectively roll our eyes at the absurdity of sometimes having to go cry inside a walk-in to make it through your shift and laugh at funny server memes only fellow waitstaff can truly understand. Bon appétit!
