Hotels can be a bit sketchy when it comes to cleanliness, and let’s be real, some are downright terrifying.
Most people know better than to mess with things like the bed duvet. And with such a tight turnaround for cleaning, even the most well-intentioned cleaning staff might not get everything up to snuff.
TikToker Angela Riihiluoma (@angelariihiluoma) shared hotel tips she learned while working in marketing for a hotel. She spilled the beans on what to touch and what to avoid based on her brief stint in hotel marketing. It’s tough to figure out which hotels take cleaning seriously, but usually, the pricier ones have cleaner rooms (but not always, so watch out!).
So, in her first video, Angela told us about her time working at a hotel in the marketing department.
She worked alongside a dude who had been in the hotel biz for 20 years and he gave her the lowdown on some top-secret intel. And guess what? Angela’s now dishing out that same juicy info to all of us.
“Never ever, ever, ever, ever use the coffee machine in a hotel room,” she said.
“Why Angela, you may ask, why ever don’t? Because apparently, some people like to use it as a urinal. So I don’t care how addicted you are to coffee. Don’t touch the coffeemaker.”
Then she added, “Do not use the glasses that they put in the bathroom. You know, like, the really nice glass glasses. Apparently, housekeepers only have so much time to turn the room and so more often than not, they’re just wiping them with Windex. They won’t even wash them.”

Angela’s second video in the series shared some pretty nasty hotel secrets.
She warned viewers to always wear socks or slippers on the hotel floors since they aren’t cleaned properly. Additionally, she advised against using the ice buckets, which are often used as urinals or “puke buckets.”
