Working as a server can be a tough job, as you’re not only responsible for ensuring your customers have an enjoyable dining experience but also rely on their generosity in the form of tips.
Unfortunately, despite going above and beyond to provide excellent service, servers often find themselves dealing with customers who refuse to leave a tip for reasons that seem ridiculous.
From not liking the food to simply not feeling like tipping, these situations can be frustrating and demoralizing for servers who work hard to make a living.
Recently, TikTok user Karen (@karen.deanda) shared a video explaining a recent situation she experienced while serving. After providing her usual, excellent service, a table didn’t tip because they didn’t like the food.
Customer: “You were great, but the food was, we just didn’t like it.”
Karen: “Right. No, I get it. You know, I’m not gonna get a tip for providing amazing service which is kind of the main thing that I’m supposed to do. Um, but I get it. Thanks.”
The customer then complained to the restaurant, but Karen explains she doesn’t really care about that at all.

People in the comments were pretty supportive, but there’s always people out there who can justify not tipping.
