Costco Worker Claims She Earns $29 An Hour On Sundays, Starts Debate About Fair Compensation And Being Happy At Work

Everyone knows teachers are underpaid and under-appreciated, but how much can you make as a teacher vs. say, working at Costco?

A former teacher’s TikTok video has gone viral, where she reveals why she’d rather work in a Costco bakery than teach in a classroom.

Maggie, who’s all about exposing teacher burnout, spills the tea from her car after a Costco shift. Turns out, Sundays are her jam because she gets paid time and a half, making an incredible $29 per hour.

On that particular day, the former teacher pocketed a cool $277 by staying a bit longer to cover for a sick co-worker.

And guess what? She spent the whole day vibing to Taylor Swift’s tunes and living her best life as she explains in the video.

But here’s the best part: no rude customers, no email shackles, and zero work prepping or taking stuff home. Totally different from her teacher days, right?

Before, Sundays were all about gearing up for the school week, but now she not only gets extra cash for working Sundays but also scores a weekday off. It’s a game-changer!

Now she can finally tackle her Ph.D. dissertation and make it to her daughter’s parent-teacher conference without conflict.

Maggie wraps it up by saying, “I’m grateful for my job at Costco and the chance it gives me to be home and handle stuff on weekdays too.”

In her caption, she spills that working in the Costco bakery is her happy place because it’s surprisingly peaceful. Sure, it’s fast-paced, but the drama is low, and everything falls into place as it should.

Since sharing the video, it’s blown up with millions of views and thousands of comments.

I work in the bakery at Costco, and Sundays are one of my favorite days to work. On Sundays we are paid time and a half, so that means on Sunday I make about $29 an hour. When I come to work, I don’t have to prepare anything before coming to work. But I was a teacher I had to do lots of preparation in order to have a successful school day, and a lot of that ended up being stuff at home. When I leave work, I don’t take anything with me. As a teacher I had to take Work home. I especially enjoy working in the bakery, because everything back there is just very peaceful. Yes, it’s fast paced, but there is little to no conflict, and everything works out as it should. #costcofinds #costcotiktok #bakerylife #formerteacher #teachertiktok #teacherquittok #careertransition
