Nurse On Tiktok Documents What It’s Like To Be On-Call For More Than 15 Hours In A Day

Nursing is a calling that requires immense dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Beyond the relentless demands of their regular shifts, nurses face an additional uphill battle when they step into the realm of being on-call.

A nurse’s responsibilities extend far beyond the confines of a scheduled shift, as they often find themselves at the frontlines of healthcare, poised to respond to emergencies and critical situations at a moment’s notice.

Recently, a post from Savannah James (@djsav) on Tiktok showed what it’s like to be a nurse who is on-call for a full 15 hours. While, yes, she gets to be at home, knowing you could be called in at any moment comes with an anxiety that isn’t for everyone.

In the video she explains that she is on-call from 7am to 3:30pm, and documents what she’s doing during that time.

Seems like a good deal, but the anxiety of knowing that call could come at any moment would ruin any good times had for me.

Ultimately, she wasn’t called in, but what do you think about nurses being paid between $2-$6 dollars an hour to be on-call?
