Artist Asks AI To Imagine Women Without Makeup From Different Countries

A digital artist used Midjourney AI to create pictures of the “average woman” from different countries like Sweden, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, and more. While we’ve seen similar stuff before, this experiment showed that AI has its own biases. The artist said the images were meant to show women without makeup, but people noticed that Midjourney’s results still made them look like they had makeup on.

One person commented, “It’s crazy how AI can do impressive things like pass the bar exam and make cool art, but it can’t even grasp the idea of women without makeup.” Another person shared, “I lived in Italy for four years, and those pictures don’t look anything like the average Italian woman.”

This whole project, titled “Average Women Without Makeup From Different Countries,” was shared on Reddit and got people talking about how AI can do amazing things, but it still has a long way to go in understanding and representing real people.
