To say these are strange times is a massive understatement. We are living through a time of great change. Whether it will be for the better or worse is yet to be determined.
If things don’t start to change, I fear we may be in for a boring dystopia. Not even a fun one with zombies or mutants. Probably just one where a corporation tattoos a barcode on your forehead.
Enter the ‘Boring Dystopia’ subreddit, an online community that focuses on documenting how our current system is both dystopic and exceptionally uninteresting. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it was coined by the late British scholar and cultural theorist, Mark Fisher. It describes the sense of discomfort caused by subtly coercive indications that thrive in a “late-stage capitalist society.”
