In an age where social media platforms serve as the modern-day amphitheaters, young people are stepping into the arena with a zeal like never before. The quest for likes, shares, and peer approval has given rise to a curious phenomenon—the proliferation of online challenges.
From the Bird Box Challenge to the Tide Pod Challenge, these digital dares have become a rite of passage, a badge of honor in the virtual realm. But sometimes these challenges are dangerous, and not worth the risk.
Last Friday, 14-year-old Harris Wolobah tragically passed away after taking part in the Paqui’s “One Chip Challenge.”
The Paqui’s website states: “Eat the entire chip. Wait as long as possible before drinking or eating anything. Post your reaction on social media with #onechipchallenge and mention @paquichips.”
