In a world that increasingly blurs the line between professional endeavors and personal time, the modern job hunter is often caught in a relentless tug-of-war. Seeking the promise of a fulfilling career without sacrificing precious personal moments seems more like a dream than a standard.
It’s frustrating, disheartening even, when countless companies wave the flag of ‘innovation’ and ‘progress’, yet balk at the idea of a genuine work/life balance for their employees.
Recently, one job hunter Janice (@travelwithjann), shared their story about encountering one of these employers.
“So a couple of weeks ago, I had an interview where the employer told me that they’re looking for someone who doesn’t value work-life balance to fill that role. The exact quote was, ‘some people might want work-life balance but that’s really not the person I’m looking for to fill this role. I need someone who’s driven and ambitious and essentially be my partner to grow this company.’”
“If that doesn’t sum up what it’s like looking for a job in 2023, I don’t really know what does.”
