Employee’s Unexpected Termination After Resignation Leads To Petty Revenge, Then Gets Their Pay Doubled

It can be truly disheartening when an employer responds negatively simply because you’ve submitted your resignation. We’re often taught and led to expect that providing notice is the right thing to do, even if we anticipate a difficult conversation. However, this entire process hinges on trust. You’re trusting that your employer will reciprocate the respect you’ve shown them by giving notice and won’t exercise their right to terminate your employment immediately.

The unfortunate reality is that not everyone conducts business with the same level of respect, and some may not hesitate to let you go if given the opportunity. You might even have a gut feeling about how your employer is likely to react, but even then, you can still be taken by surprise.

In one instance, a worker was immediately let go upon submitting their notice. Fortunately, they managed to turn the situation in their favor, securing a payout for the remainder of their notice period while starting their new job immediately. However, not everyone may be as lucky in such circumstances.
