IKEA Expertly Trolls Balenciaga For Their “Towel Skirt” That Costs $925

Ikea humorously trolled Balenciaga following the luxury brand’s launch of a $925 towel skirt.

Part of Balenciaga’s 2024 spring collection, this beige terry-cotton towel skirt, resembling a long skirt but made entirely of towel material, sparked mixed reactions. Ikea’s playful response featured a promotional post for their Vinarn bath towel, also in beige, styled similarly to Balenciaga’s skirt.

The post showcased a man wearing the towel like a skirt, mimicking Balenciaga’s design. Ikea’s clever marketing highlighted the affordability of their towel, contrasting sharply with Balenciaga’s luxurious price tag.

TikTokers also got a kick out of Ikea’s hilarious move.

This isn’t the first time Ikea has poked fun at Balenciaga; previously, they responded to a Balenciaga bag reminiscent of Ikea’s 99 cents Frakta tote with a humorous advert. Ikea’s witty engagements with Balenciaga’s high-fashion items, like the towel skirt, continue to entertain and highlight the stark price and style differences between the two brands.
