Dark humor really nails it sometimes, especially when mixed with the art style of these “Death & the Maiden” comics by Jorgen Van Santen from Oslo, Norway. He’s got this knack for taking something potentially grim and spinning it into something hilariously lighthearted.
“Death & the Maiden” isn’t just your run-of-the-mill comic. It’s about this unique friendship between two main characters: death itself and a young woman who, let’s just say, didn’t see that accident coming. Through their odd-couple vibe, we’re introduced to the afterlife, complete with its perks and the comical differences between our world and the one where you don’t need to breathe anymore.
As for the afterlife, well, that’s anyone’s guess. But if there’s something waiting on the other side, I’m crossing my fingers it’s just like what Jorgen Van Santen shows us in those comics. How cool would that be?
