Teacher Reads ‘Student’s Break-Up Letter’ In Class, Reveals It’s A Clever Introduction To Declaration Of Independence Lesson

We love a good prank, and when it’s educational, it’s even better. School pranks are usually student territory, but it’s the teacher doing the prank this time. A teacher used a genius tactic to make the Declaration of Independence relatable to kids in her class. In the teacher prank shared on TikTok, she “accidentally” left a fake break-up letter on the floor. A student found it, and the teacher, pretending it was against the rules to pass notes, snatched it up and read it out loud.

Thinking they were about to get some juicy gossip, the class listened with bated breath. But the big reveal was that the note was actually the Declaration of Independence, reimagined as a break-up letter from the American Colonies to Great Britain.

The students were shocked by their teacher’s prank, a little let down it was a fake break-up letter, but totally drawn into the lesson.
