Women navigating professional and personal spaces often find themselves on the receiving end of mansplaining fails, a frustrating phenomenon where men unnecessarily explain things to them, assuming a lack of knowledge or expertise. This unwelcome and patronizing behavior disregards women’s qualifications and experiences, highlighting a broader issue of gender inequality and respect.
In a recent and relatable incident that captures this experience perfectly, a professional female golfer, Georgia Ball (@georgiagolfcoach), found herself being mansplained about her golf swing. While practicing at the driving range and filming her technique, a man next to her decided to offer unsolicited advice, unaware of her professional status.
She shared the video on her Instagram, turning an irritating moment into a powerful conversation starter.
Just minding her own business when she hears a man’s voice: “Excuse me, what you’re doing there? You shouldn’t be doing that.”
At some point, the man comments, ‘You’re taking it too slow on the way up.’
Georgia responds calmly, ‘Ok, I’m currently working on adjusting my swing, so…’
Despite this, the man persists, not giving Georgia any respite, as he continues to offer his guidance, boasting of his ’20 years’ experience in golf.
As Georgia executes a stunning swing, the man seemingly attributes her success to his advice, remarking, “See how beautiful that was?”
Georgia captions the video, humorously noting her disbelief at his comments. She’s seen chuckling throughout the ordeal and goes on to explain that her technique is a practice adopted by “the best golfers in the world” to enhance their game.
