For those who aren’t in the know, the Texas-based Buc-ee’s is a gas station on steroids. It’s got over 100 gas pumps and just as many bathroom stalls and flavors of beef jerky.
As the chain begins to stretch across the midwest and southeast, the rest of the country is quickly learning that everything really is bigger in Texas.
Sure, Buc-ee’s has a big selection of junk food and toilets, but that buck-toothed rodent is also big where it counts. Get your mind out of the gutter. I’m talking about the employee paychecks.
This TikTok user was stunned when she found out how much Buc-ee’s pays its custodial staff
TikTok user roxieab posted a video expressing her surprise when she discovered that the restroom janitorial staff at Buc-ee’s makes the same salary as her.
“Yesterday I found out that the Buc-ee’s gas station pays their restroom janitorial staff the same hourly wage as my job in case management,” she wrote in a text overlay of the video, adding that she had even asked for a raise. “I haven’t been the same since.”

Roxieab added that she in no way meant to disparage janitors with her post.
“All love to janitors I honestly might join you at this point #godblessamerica,” she captioned the video, which was set to the Star Spangled Banner.
She posted a follow-up video breaking down Buc-ee’s salaries at different levels in the company

In a second video, Roxie replied to a question from a viewer asking about the other salaries at Buc-ee’s.
A sign outside of the behemoth rest stop lists the positions available. These jobs begin at cashier, gift, maintenance, warehouse, and grocery stocker roles that start at $16 per hour with no experience necessary.
“No hate to these positions at all,” she says. “Like these are all very important lines of work, but at the same time, I am still in shock over this discovery.”
At the other end of the spectrum, a general manager at Buc-ee’s rakes in $150,000 to $225,000 in annual wages.
