I have never been more viscerally aware of my mortality than when my nephew found the old landline collecting dust in my grandmother’s house, looked directly into my eyes, and asked sincerely, “What’s this?”
The ’80s and ’90s are gone. Long gone. And they’ve been replaced by a world of convenience and touch screens and steep gas prices that make the ’80s and ’90s look like a different planet.
But we remember. We — the ever-dwindling torcher bearers of that funky-patterned, big-haired, shoulder-padded era — shall continue to tell our histories to all who will listen. In a way, these memes are sacred. So scroll through at your leisure (but please be respectful).
