This Guy Was Tired Of Dating Apps So He Rented A Billboard

Dave Cline, a 28-year-old data manager from West Philadelphia, took a highly unconventional approach to find love: he rented a billboard.

Frustrated by the modern dating scene and tired of swiping on dating apps, Dave decided to put himself out there in a big way—literally.

For just over $1,000, he secured a billboard near his neighborhood with a simple yet bold message: “Want to go on a DATE with Dave?”

The sign features a cheerful photo of Dave giving a thumbs-up, alongside some “fast facts” about him, like his cooking skills, normal hobbies, and his beloved cat, Peach.

The idea was both humorous and serious, as Dave hoped to break free from the monotony of online dating.

Despite some initial skepticism from friends, most people in his life supported his bold move, even chipping in to help cover the cost.

“It was just supposed to be funny for the most part, but I am not gonna lie that the added benefit is that girls are messaging me now, which is great,” Dave told WPVI.

The strategy worked — Dave gained 10,000 Instagram followers practically overnight and already has a date lined up

The billboard quickly gained attention, both locally and online.

The responses have been overwhelmingly positive, with many people reaching out to Dave through his Instagram account, @date_dave_philly.

While his approach may seem over the top, Dave has already started receiving messages from potential dates, and he even has one lined up.

“I have one [date] set up for tomorrow, probably gonna be a little walk or something. People are being very forward if they want a date which I appreciate,” he said.

He’s been pleasantly surprised by the kind and genuine responses, which have included requests for more photos of his cat, Peach.

Whether or not it results in a long-term relationship, Dave’s billboard has certainly made him a local celebrity and given many a reason to smile.

The internet is loving Dave’s quirky personality and his bold approach to finding love
