A baby boomer couple is going viral for a “Gen Z-style” TikTok video promoting their zoo.
Brian and Linda Bradley, directors at Northumberland Zoo, strolled through the grounds to give viewers a peek at the animals, all while using plenty of Gen Z slang.
There’s the owl with “main character energy,” the bat who is “brat,” and the raccoon who is “very demure.”
The video became a massive hit, soaring past 5 million views on TikTok at the time of publishing.
This boomer couple embraced their inner Gen Z for a hilarious tour of their zoo
The video shows the couple describing their animals using slang terms unfamiliar to many in their age group, like referring to a goat as the G.O.A.T.
Their 35-year-old daughter Maxine, who runs the zoo, told ITXV: “It’s weird for me because I’ve made my parents go viral around the world.”
The video sparked widespread interest, with visitors showing up at the zoo to snap selfies with Brian and Linda, turning them into unexpected internet sensations.
The video became a massive hit, raking in plenty of business for the zoo and praise for the elderly couple
“We didn’t give my parents any information upfront as we wanted their genuine reactions and plain-faced pronunciations when they said the words,” she told Newsweek. “They still don’t know what they mean, and neither do we, to be fair!”
The unique marketing approach has paid off as new visitors are arriving at the zoo in droves, many of whom are as eager to see Brian and Linda as the donkey who “slays.”
“It’s been great for business—people love seeing my parents use slang they don’t even understand!” Maxine added.
