Full disclosure: I don’t own any cats. I love petting them and playing with them whenever the opportunity presents itself. But when I visit a friend who has cats, I never take a deep inhale and think “Ah, your cat smells like happiness and cinnamon.”

I usually think “Your cat smells like a cat — maybe a hint of kitty litter.”

But these owners take a solid whiff of their feline pals and smell all kinds of interesting scents. I guess it takes living with a cat, smelling them all the time, to pick up their unique scent.

These well-trained cat sniffers told Reddit what their cats smell like and their answers are so wholesome I’m on my way to the shelter to pick up half a dozen and smell them all at once.
