Wendy’s launched their SpongeBob “Krabby Patty Kollab” for the show’s 25th anniversary, but it seems like people on Twitter aren’t buying it—literally or figuratively with these roasts.
The burger, which Wendy’s hyped up to be their version of Bikini Bottom’s famous sandwich, is essentially a Dave’s Single with an extra slice of cheese and a mystery sauce. And let’s just say, the internet was quick to point that out.
“That’s It? That’s Just a Dave’s Single!”
When the Krabby Patty finally hit the menu, Twitter users immediately called out its disappointing resemblance to the regular ol’ Dave’s Single.
With comments like, “I know a Dave’s Single when I see one,” many were quick to poke fun at how little effort it seemed Wendy’s put into making the Krabby Patty something special. Turns out, slapping a “Krabby Kollab sauce” on your usual burger just doesn’t hit the same as eating in Bikini Bottom.
Plankton Wants to Steal the Sauce, but It’s Just Thousand Island (and a Square Patty?!)
If Plankton knew the secret “Krabby Kollab” sauce was just Thousand Island dressing, he’d probably call it quits on his life of crime. Fans on Twitter were quick to point out the sauce, along with Wendy’s signature round patty, wasn’t exactly the magical SpongeBob burger of legend.
Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty? Twitter Says No Thanks
Along with the burger, Wendy’s released the “Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty,” which is a vanilla Frosty with pineapple and mango puree. Twitter was equally savage about this addition, with one user saying it “tastes like barrnacles”.
Is It Worth Trying?
The verdict is mixed. Wendy’s attempt to bring Bikini Bottom to land hasn’t quite hit the mark, but if you’re a SpongeBob superfan or just want to join in on the Wendy’s Krabby Patty Twitter roasts, it might be worth the try. Either way, the laughs on Twitter are worth a scroll, if not a bite.
