It’s a “life hack” many of us have tried before. You order an alcoholic beverage with less ice, assuming the extra cup space will be filled with the good stuff.
But this bartender from Las Vegas is setting the record straight.
Marti (@martiii_soulll) explains on TikTok: “You come to the bar and you order a drink with light ice.
“Light ice does not mean more liquor. It just doesn’t. It does not mean more liquor.
“It actually just means more juice. It could even just mean you don’t get a full drink.”
This bartender dispels the myth that less ice equals more liquor
There are other reasons why people may order a drink light on the ice.
For example, some people dislike it when the ice melts and waters down the beverage.
Marti herself concedes that many drinkers from other parts of the world prefer it this way.
“And I understand people in like, Europe, UK, like specifically, they don’t like a lot of ice in their drinks.
“That’s fine. I don’t have a problem with it. You’re drinking. It’s your drink.
“I want you to enjoy it. I want to make it how you like it.
“But I just want people to know that don’t know less ice does not mean more liquor. Have a good day.”

Bartenders in the comments section praised Marti for setting the record straight
While bartenders thanked Marti for her video, others explained that they simply prefer their booze with little to no rocks.
Alcoholic drinks aside, I would like to point out that asking for less ice at the movie theater will indeed result in more soda — at least in my anecdotal experience.
