30 Wholesomely Funny Animal Comics From “If They Could Talk” By Sheri Davies

Sheri Davies has a gift. She takes the everyday thoughts and behaviors of animals and turns them into laugh-out-loud comics that also make you go, “yep, that’s totally me.” Her comic series If They Could Talk is exactly what it sounds like—hilarious one-panel cartoons imagining what animals might say if they could speak our language.

Each comic features clever, relatable humor, usually with a dog, cat, or other furry friend delivering the punchline. But it’s more than just jokes—Davies also uses her platform to support animal charities, adding links and shoutouts to organizations at the bottom of her comics. So not only are you laughing, you’re also learning about ways to help animals in need. Win-win.

She started creating these animal comics back in 1996 and even self-syndicated them in over 50 local newspapers. After a short break, she made a comeback in 2019, and we’re so glad she did. In 2024, she released If They Could Talk (Volume 1)—a collection of her best comics from recent years, and honestly, it’s a must-read for any animal lover.

You can find her work on cartoonistsheri.com or follow her on Instagram and Facebook to get your daily dose of animal humor.

If you love funny animal comics, Sheri Davies is someone you need to know.
