Petty HOA Fines Resident $500 For Walking Dog
HOAs have a reputation for being petty, and it’s not exactly undeserved.
They’re supposed to maintain property values and keep things running smoothly, but more often than not, they just enforce random rules inconsistently and make life harder for people who are trying to exist in peace.
The fines come out of nowhere, the enforcement is selective, and there’s always someone on the board who treats their position like they’re running a small dictatorship.
This resident (u/AlyxAnazx) learned that the hard way last month when their condo HOA decided their dog was suddenly a problem, despite living there without issue and following the rules better than most other residents.
The fine was absurd, the reasoning didn’t hold up, and the whole situation reeked of someone abusing their authority because they could.
What followed was a lesson in standing your ground when the system is clearly rigged against you.
