‘Hero-Glyphics’— Artist Josh Ln Combines Ancient Greek Hieroglyphics With Modern Pop Culture
Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs were supposed to tell stories about pharaohs and gods and the afterlife, not Batman or Luke Skywalker. But honestly, if those civilizations had access to Marvel movies and Star Wars they probably would’ve carved those into temple walls too.
Artist Josh Ln’s “Hero-glyphics” series mashes up that ancient hieroglyphic style with modern pop culture characters, and it works way better than it should. The flat, stylized look of Egyptian art translates perfectly to superheroes and sci-fi icons because both are larger-than-life figures people obsess over.
It’s a fun visual trick that makes you see familiar characters in a completely different context.
Keep going for pop culture icons that feel like they’ve been around for thousands of years instead of a few decades.
