There’s a whole “Expectations vs. Reality” trend on social media (i.e. polished Instagram posts next to what actually happened) and I guess it was bound to happen that parents would start doing it with birth announcement.
Professional newborn photos with soft lighting and clean babies wrapped in blankets, versus the actual first photo taken thirty seconds after birth when everyone looks like they’ve been through a car accident. It’s a fresh take on the trend I’d honestly never considered, but of course parents are staging the perfect shot later and then revealing what the real moment looked like.
Before everyone had a camera in their pocket, you had time.
The baby got cleaned up, you got cleaned up, someone brought in an actual camera for the official photo. Now the nurse is handing you your phone while you’re still trying to process what just happened.
Parents are posting both versions side-by-side and it’s equal parts hilarious and honest.
