42 Of The Worst Roommates Being Shamed Online By Fed Up Housemates
As someone who’s lived with all kinds of roommates over the years, I can tell you there are few things more frustrating than sharing space with another grown adult who somehow missed the memo on basic adulting.
These are the “roommates from heck”—the ones being shamed online by housemates who are done putting up with their nonsense.
From leaving mysterious food piles everywhere to “borrowing” anything not nailed down, these roommates prove that living with others isn’t always as simple as splitting rent.
If you’ve ever had a roommate who made you question your sanity, these stories will hit close to home.

Changing a toilet paper roll takes four seconds. I’ve timed it. Four seconds. And yet there are fully grown adults walking among us who would rather balance a new roll on top of the old cardboard tube than complete what might be the easiest task in all of domestic life. It’s not laziness at that point. It’s a philosophical stance. They’ve decided that the holder is decorative and the tube is structural and no amount of passive-aggressive sighing from you is going to change their mind.

I had a roommate in college who would eat the specific best part of anything I made and leave the rest like he’d done me a favor. The middle of a lasagna. The frosting off a cake. Once, just the pepperoni off a frozen pizza. Not the whole pizza — just the pepperoni. He’d leave the bare cheese pizza in the box like a crime scene. The audacity of eating someone’s food is one thing. The audacity of editing someone’s food is a completely different level of disrespect that I don’t think gets talked about enough.

I will never understand the person who opens a new water bottle when there’s a perfectly good one sitting right there with two sips left in it. What happened? Did you forget about it? Did it wrong you somehow? At what point does a water bottle become dead to you? I lived with someone who did this and at one point I counted fourteen open bottles around the apartment. I lined them all up on the counter thinking it would make a point. It did not.
