New Hire Gets Fired 10 Minutes Into Day Two After Taking The Entire Office Coffee Supply Home On Her First Day

I’ve worked a lot of jobs and every break room operates on a pretty simple honor system. The coffee is free, the creamer is questionable, and nobody leaves with the entire supply.

At least that’s what I assumed.

Most workplace rules don’t need to be written down because they’re just understood. Don’t steal someone’s lunch. Don’t microwave fish. Don’t take office supplies home unless somebody explicitly says you can. Coffee falls into that category too. If a company provides coffee for employees, the expectation is usually that you drink it at work, not treat the break room like a grocery store.

That brings us to this new hire, who heard that the company provides free coffee for everyone and apparently came away with a very different understanding of the arrangement.
