I’ve been painting a room in our house this week. It’s one of those chores that’s actually kind of fun once you’re in it. I got the roller going, headphones on, windows open. At some point, I started wondering if this is what graffiti artists feel like, just covering a surface with something and watching it change. It’s probably not. They’re doing it in the dark with a tight deadline, on a wall that’s not theirs, and nobody’s making them tape off the trim first.
Mine is a color called “Accessible Beige,” which is a name that really commits to saying nothing. I’ve done two coats, and I’m not sure if it looks different yet or if I’ve just been staring at it too long. Twitter kept me company between coats.
