I rented a movie on Apple TV last night, and it just didn’t hit the same. Sure, it’s convenient. Sure, I don’t have to rewind it. But you know what I also don’t have? The experience of driving to Blockbuster on a Friday night with no plan and walking out with something you never would’ve picked if you’d had every option in the world.

That’s the thing about Blockbuster nobody talks about. The limited selection was the feature, not the bug. You worked with what was on the shelf, you committed, and you watched the thing.

Now we have everything, and somehow that means we watch nothing. Miss it? Yeah, a little.
