A Cat Got Summoned For Jury Duty And His Owner Spent 6 Weeks Trying To Explain Why He Couldn’t Attend

I’ve been summoned for jury duty exactly once in my life, and I showed up, did my civic duty, and went home. Never been called back since. My cat, on the other hand, has never been summoned, which until today I assumed was just how things worked.

Turns out the system is more fallible than I thought. Felix Martinez, a cat, received an official jury duty summons. His owner spent six weeks submitting appeals explaining why Felix, a cat, could not attend.

The court rejected all of them, including the vet’s note. So the owner did the only logical thing left and showed up to court with Felix in a carrier.
