Most people walk past a praying mantis on a leaf and keep moving. Hielmy Arrasyid gets his phone out. The photographer from Lombok, Indonesia, has built a whole body of work around the stuff nobody slows down for: the small insects, the tiny creatures on branches and mushrooms and flowers that exist in a world most of us never bother to look at.
What he finds there is surprising. And he’s shooting all of it on a smartphone with a clip-on lens, which makes every single one of these images more impressive than it already looks.
