Every so often I’ll be standing in a grocery store aisle convinced I’m remembering a snack that never actually existed, some half-formed memory of a weird flavor or a cartoon mascot that my brain has apparently just made up. Then I look it up and it turns out it was real, it just got quietly discontinued at some point without so much as a heads up. Just gone from shelves like it was never there.

Turns out there’s an entire corner of Reddit, r/ForgottenFoods, dedicated to exactly this feeling, people collectively grieving snacks the rest of the world moved on from.

These disappeared too soon and still live rent-free in a lot of people’s heads.
