83 Classical Art Memes So Good They Belong In A Museum Themselves
Classical art is honestly the best possible raw material for memes, and I don’t think enough people give it credit for that. You’ve got centuries worth of paintings capturing the most dramatic, exaggerated human expressions imaginable.
These painters were working in oil for months at a time and somehow still managed to capture pure comedic timing completely by accident. Add a modern caption to any of it, and suddenly a 400-year-old oil painting is doing better material than half of Twitter. There’s also something deeply funny about applying 2026 problems to people in powdered wigs and togas.
It shouldn’t work as well as it does, but it always does. These memes confirm classical art was setting up punchlines centuries before anyone knew what a meme even was.
