The English language has been brought in for questioning, and its story is already falling apart.
It claims “flammable” and “inflammable” mean the same thing. It says we park on driveways and drive on parkways. It also expects us to accept that “fat chance” and “slim chance” are the same. Any one of these might be understandable, but together they suggest a larger pattern of suspicious behavior.
