25 Funny Tweets About Self-Checkout For Anyone Who’s Been Publicly Humiliated By The Bagging Area

Self-checkout is one of the best and worst inventions ever. It’s the best when there’s no line and you only have a few things. You can get through the entire checkout process in no time. But when there’s a holdup, it’s the most infuriating thing ever.

One time, I was at the grocery store during rush hour, and all six self-checkout machines needed an attendant to come over and pretend to make sure there wasn’t an unexpected item in the bagging area. I think we need to audition for the chance to use these machines. We should each get a login after passing a test that proves we know what a barcode looks like and how to ring up produce.

Fun fact: I worked at a grocery store throughout high school and still have many of the produce codes memorized. You should see the looks on people’s faces when I type them in without looking them up. Finally, my time to shine.

It’s almost like hiring cashiers and paying them would make the whole process, you know, easier. Until customers can’t write checks anymore, I suggest we hold off on self-checkout.
