When I was a kid, I assumed adults knew what they were doing because they were adults. Now I’m one, and I’ve spent twenty minutes looking for my phone while holding it. So now I know we’re all just getting through the day the best we can.
The funny thing about being a kid is that one person can tell you something ridiculous, and if they say it confidently enough, it becomes part of how you understand the world.
You don’t even bother to confirm whether it’s true or not because you’re a kid. You just repeat it to another kid, who also doesn’t look into it. Years later, you find out the whole thing was made up while you’re in the middle of explaining it to someone.
