50 Memes That Sum Up What It’s Really Like Working Retail

Add as a preferred source on Google

I worked retail for exactly one summer in college and came out the other side with a flinch response to the sound of a bell above a door. That’s not an exaggeration. Retail does something to a person. I think it’s the fake pleasantness on command, the customers who ask for a manager when you told them they can’t use 2 coupons, and the specific exhaustion of folding the same shirt for the fourth time in an hour because someone decided the display needed testing.

You develop a whole language for it too, “let me check in the back” meaning nothing, “we’re actually out of that” said with a straight face regardless of whether or not it’s true..

Anyone who’s clocked in behind a register knows exactly what I’m talking about, and these memes prove it wasn’t just you.
