20 Vegetarian Tweets For Anyone Who’s Been Asked Where They Get Their Protein

I like ordering vegetarian food because it makes me feel healthy, even when what I ordered is essentially deep-fried string cheese. Put the word “vegetarian” on a menu, and suddenly I’m acting like I should tell my doctor how proud they should be.

I’m not a vegetarian, but I like vegetarian food. My vegetarian friends have to explain that distinction a lot more than I do. Mention you don’t eat meat and someone immediately wants to know where you get your protein, as if they were about to offer you some from their pocket. Then comes the family dinner where everybody needs to discuss what’s on your plate. I can order the same thing, enjoy it, and leave without answering a single question.

At least they aren’t vegan. I’m kidding. Mostly. These tweets show why a simple food choice can turn into a whole conversation.
