today is robin williams birthday. i'm sorry it ended the way it did for him and i'm still sad he's gone. but dammit if he didn't leave us with maybe the biggest treasure trove of happiness of anyone ever in the history of the world. just a huge collection of joy and other emotions too. you know, human condition stuff. startin in the late 70s he was in movies and tv shows and standups and late night appearances. most of it is something you can find on netflix or hulu or online or at those bad torrent websites and almost all of it is something you'll have a good time watching. and will make you feel things. if youre like me, you're gonna pick one out to watch tonight and remember him. personally i'm gonna watch dead poets society because that movie is about standing up for something you believe in even when you might lose a lot and it's the first thing i ever wrote several pages about for a college essay. or maybe i'll watch good will hunting because it's a great movie and because he won an oscar and he seemed so excited when he got that trophy and also the ad-libbed fart-in her-sleep scene. or maybe i'll watch deconstructing harry because i really like it when he gets all blurry and out of focus. or good morning vietnam. or mrs. doubtfire. or cadillac man. or mork n mindy reruns. or his turned up appearances on all the late night shows. or awakenings because tears. or… i dunno. maybe i'll just stay up all night. happy birthday and RIP robin williams. miss you. and thanks for everything you gave us. all the joy and laughing and sadness and hope. we're better off for it. xx

bittersweet post time. first happy birthday to tom hanks. thanks tom hanks for being great. you're a national treasure tom hanks. second this is my last visit to fao schwarz and im sad that its closing its doors next week. im extra sad to see all the empty shelves in here too. it looks gutted. but at least they rolled out the big piano for one last round of chopsticks. it's my personal belief that you're never too old to love a GIANT stuffed monkey or little remote control helicopters. well maybe YOU will get too old for that but i never will. RIP fao schwarz. thanks for the memories and the one time i met natalie portman here. that wouldn't have happened without you. #tomhanks #faoschwarz
