I’m constantly tripping over my own words. I think my biggest problem is trying to rehearse how I should say something instead of just shooting it from the hip. Like when I’m waiting to talk to the checkout clerk and I’m expecting them to say “how’s it going?” but instead they just say “hello” so I say “good, thanks” and it takes all of my energy not to simply run from the store and never return. Why can’t people stick to the script I’ve written in my head?
